Sparky’s Lunchbox: Alison Williamson Off Target in Beijing
Alison Williamson comes up short of her second Olympic medal, Brandon Magee chooses football over baseball, and Danny Sullivan looks like he’s going to play.

Former ASU archer Alison Williamson’s quest for a second Olympic medal got off to a tough start today as her team was upset 203-201 by France in the bronze medal match.
This is Williamson’s fifth Olympics—and maybe her last. Although the 2012 Games will be held in London, the 36-year-old isn’t sure she’ll still be competing at 40. So, yeah, the loss was pretty tough, as reported by the London Telegraph.
“I felt basically that I let the other two down, that I should have pulled my weight more and I didn’t,” she sobbed. “It’s really frustrating and disappointing when you’re that close to a medal, you’re almost touching it. Four years is a long time to wait to try again.”
Williamson will get another shot (pun sort of intended) at a medal in the individual archery event.
On the football front, reports indicating Brandon Magee (pictured) has signed a baseball contract and will not play football at ASU were greatly exaggerated. In fact, the Tribune says Magee is doing pretty darn well.
And according to the Republic, it’s looking more and more like backup quarterback Danny Sullivan will not redshirt this season. Quoth Dennis Erickson: “I just don’t feel like we can do that. Something happens, he’s (Sullivan) heads and shoulders the No. 2 quarterback.”

Danny Sullivan better play. That’s Ted Simpson’s favorite player.
I agree. Ted could be a salty bitter Sun Devil fan if young Danny boy doesn’t see some snaps this season.
Personally, I’m hoping Danny’s gametime is limited to mop-up duty against UofA. Now that’ll make Ted happy!
HEADS and shoulders? I love it. Danny Sullivan is actually everyone’s favorite fuchsia Muppet.
