We Have a Winner, Thanks to the Wildcats’ Nine-Year Bowl Drought
The Wildcats haven’t played in a bowl game since 1998. Yes, it’s been that long. Echo from the Buttes readers thought a drought of such proportions deserved special recognition—perhaps on the University of Arizona’s new billboards.

(There’s more where this came from.)
It was 1998 the last time the Wildcats appeared in a bowl game. Only three football programs in the entire country have suffered through longer droughts. Baylor and Duke last bowled 13 years ago. For Vanderbilt, it’s been 25 painful years.
What better way to honor such epic football futility than to dedicate the Wildcats’ new billboard to the drought? That was the message of Echo from the Buttes readers, who chose Give em Hell’s submission in this weekend’s finish that billboard contest. (Check out the results on the contest page.)
Inspired by such communal Wildcat bashing, we took a stab at finishing off a handful of other UA billboards. Enjoy!
