ASU is No. 2 in One Statistic, but Who’s Bigger than Us?
Only one campus in all the land can claim more students than Arizona State’s Tempe campus. Who ever could it be? Oh, and we’re reopening our men’s hoops prognostication poll.

We addressed Michael Crow’s mission to supersize Arizona State a couple of weeks ago. According to university enrollment data released this week, Crow is well on his way.
ASU’s Tempe campus is the second largest single campus in the country, trailing only Ohio State in single campus in enrollment. There are 53,715 BCS-challenged Buckeyes hating on Bo Schembechler at Ohio State’s Columbus campus.
ASU’s Tempe campus contains 52,734 students. Total enrollment has reached a record 67,082 students spread across ASU’s four campuses. Florida’s Gainesville campus is 51,413-strong.
It’s the third year in a row that Ohio State has claimed the title of nation’s largest campus since wresting the honor from ASU back in 2006.
Also, in our excitement Monday over Dennis Erickson’s pursuit of a high school freshman with a killer highlight reel and his reception of a verbal commitment from a local high school senior, we forgot to reveal the results of our hoops poll.
On Friday, we asked you to vote on how the ASU men’s basketball team will fare this season. It looks as though anything short of an NCAA Tournament trip would be considered disappointing.
Hey, after this football season, we can’t handle any more disappointment.
