Couldn't agree more about the need for a playmaker on offense. It really looked like that guy would be Herring but the injuries have been killer. Here's what we said about Herring after the Stanford game ...

"Dimitri Nance is a good back, but Herring adds a dimension to the offense that’s lacking when he’s not in the game. He averaged five yards per carry and on his first touch of the season (the 20-yarder in the second quarter) he looked like an animal finally let out of his cage. His explosive speed and burst to the hole will be badly needed as the competition gets better. It’s time to appreciate Mr. Herring."

Here's a little thing we did about Herring before the season fell apart: http://www.echofromthebuttes.com/2008/08/29/keegan-herring-asu-overlooked-superstar/

I watched our mistake-filled first half thinking, "We are a poorly coached team." But now I am more inclined to think that we are just a young team, making young-team mistakes. Our youth beat UWs youth in the second half.

By the way, my wife made an interesting comment - she said we really need a Rudy Burgess this year. I think we forget the spark that players like RB or Ryan Torain would give our offense. We don't seem to have that kind of player yet. Maybe Dewitty? Herring?

It was good to win. I think we will win the next two and head down to Tucson for a classic rivalry showdown!

Well after the first half was done, I changed the station, however I came back to FSN just curious on how bad we were getting beat, and it turns out that our boys turned around and started dominating them. I think if we have turn arounds like that in EVERY game...we'll win out.
