How Low can They Go? Devils Double Down on Defense vs. Beavers
The Arizona State men’s and women’s basketball teams got defensive against Oregon State. How defensive? Well, the Beavers didn’t hit 40 in either game. So did the guys or the girls hold their opponent lower?

Stifling. Suffocating. Smothering. Arizona State on Thursday proved a tough opponent for Oregon State shooters—regardless of their gender.
In the men’s game, the Sun Devils’ zone shut down the Beavers in a 69-38 win. Oregon State’s 38 was the fewest points against ASU by a Pac-10 opponent ever. James Harden scored 22 points and Jeff Pendergraph just kinda took it easy on his achy knee.
The women did the men two better. They held Oregon State to just 36 points in a 61-36 rout on the road to snap a three-game losing streak and win their first conference game of the season. Sybil Dosty, Dymond Simon and Lauren Lacey each scored in double figures.
