A Very Quick Thought on the Sun Devils’ Trip Tonight to McKale
We don’t have a whole lot to say about tonight’s basketball game against Arizona, except that we’re looking forward to it. The Los Angeles Times did a fine job of summing up our opinion anyway.

We don’t have a whole lot to say about tonight’s basketball game against Arizona, except that we’re looking forward to it. (If you want to get all lathered up for the rivalry, check out our previous post listing five reasons we Sun Devils hate the University of Arizona.)
In the meantime, we’ll leave it to the professionals to preview the contest. And we thought the Los Angeles Times summed it up perfectly:
“Arizona State’s rapid rise under Coach Herb Sendek has perfectly coincided with legendary Lute Olson’s long goodbye at Arizona. […] Arizona State heads to Olson Court, McKale Center, with a No. 17 national ranking, the conference’s best player in sophomore guard James Harden and a coach coming off a big win at UCLA. The Sun Devils are in the thick of this year’s Pacific 10 race and almost a lock to make the NCAA tournament. Arizona, meanwhile, defends Fort McKale with three good players and an interim coach, Russ Pennell.”
Ouch!

I’m not taking a W for granted at all here — the rats have beaten some pretty good teams at home and the crowd will be fired up. Plus, there have been a lot of years worth of beatings on the Devils down at McKale — we owe them quite a bit, it’ll be a long time before it’s not a big deal to give them a solid humiliation on their floor. Hopefully the Devils are fired up and ready to keep their foot on the neck of the boys from browntown. Go Devils!!!
I have no idea how this game is going to turn out. I can envision blowout wins or close wins for either team.
If ASU doesn’t improve its recruiting it will be an also-ran for next year, and if UA doesn’t hit a homerun with its coach then it will be an also-ran forever.
