A Message from the Sun Devil Advocates: Rally to Fight Budget Cuts
The Sun Devil Advocates have organized a rally to protest proposed budget cuts that threaten the stability of Arizona State University. Keep reading to view a special message from the Advocates about their cause.

Our nation’s economic struggles have impacted every industry—including education. Even after Arizona State posted 10 incredible non-sports accomplishments in 2008, president Michael Crow has said the university is in serious trouble.
Here now is a message from the Sun Devil Advocates about the potential impact of budget cuts and what you can do to help fight them:
“ASU needs you now more than ever. As anticipated, a war on education has been declared by the Arizona Legislature, which has proposed budget cuts that would lead to the largest reduction in higher education spending in Arizona’s history. These proposed cuts will lead to dire consequences – tuition increases, reduced aid to students, reduced per-student funding, staff layoffs, lengthy employee furloughs, program reductions, school closures and campus closures.
“You can help fight for ASU. Be a part of the force to save higher schedule in Arizona. Come show your support and let the Legislature know thousands of Arizona residents stand for higher education. Be a part of a news conference with all three Arizona universities, Wednesday, January 28 at 11 a.m. on the Arizona Capitol Lawn followed by a student led rally at noon.
“Together, we can win the war that’s been declared on higher education in Arizona. Please help us tell members of the Arizona Legislature that these proposed funding cuts would have a devastating impact on ASU.
“Register to join the Sun Devil Advocates and take bold actions to help ASU. Again, thank you for your continued support and advocacy on behalf of Arizona State University!”

If you go to the protest today, please be sure to give us a report here in the comments! I work in Tempe, but I’m very interested to find out what happens down there. Go Devils!
That’s awful news. This Georgia fan is pulling for you guys. Good luck. As a side note, is there a substantial revenue generated from ASU athletics that (through creative budgeting) could offset this if it was passed?
Thanks for the kind words, Mack. As long as you’re here, how are your Dawgs looking? You lost Knowshown and Safford, right?
Yeah we did, which is unfortunate but I think as long as Matty doesn’t end up in Detroit he’ll be successful. Knowshon’s agility will be interesting to see against grown-ass men. Next year looks interesting for us, hopefully we fly under the radar because 2008 proved we can’t handle pressure. See you guys in Athens this year???
