Weekend Links and Audio: State of the ASU Baseball Program
Posted on February 28th, 2009 by ScribeDevil
Before we get to the links, our friends at The Greg and Mark Show delivered a bit of a state-of-the-program on ASU baseball. Hear their take by listening below:

If you prefer that whole reading thing and you haven’t been visiting Echo from the Buttes this week, here’s what you missed:
- James Harden and the Sun Devils let an historic opportunity slip in Seattle
- Greg and Mark broke down the stretch run for both our hoops teams
- Jason Kipnis and Carlos Ramirez filled in just fine for Wally and Ike
- We wondered aloud if ASU had surpassed UA as the state’s top hoops program
- And we watched videos of Tucsonans traveling to Tempe and the combative Jim Calhoun
That’s all for now. Get ye to Packard Stadium this weekend. And be careful playing tailgate beer pong tournaments. You know, oral herpes. Go Devils!

Listening to “Greg & Mark” is painful … there’s as much dead air as there is talking.
Wow, didn’t your mom make you watch Bambi when you were a kid? “If you can’t say something nice… don’t say nothing at all.” Remember, if we wouldn’t say something to a fellow Devil’s face over a beer at Casey Moore’s, let’s please not say it here.
I’d say it to their faces … do they regularly hang out at Casey Moore’s? Seriously Scribe … listen to these guys. Are they reading from a script? Or do they really struggle that much to keep up the banter? The dead air in between their comments is … awful.
I just wish it were possible to listen to KTAR, or whoever it is that is carrying the Devils these days. I miss tuning into a pre-game show, the game, post game, Devil Talk, etc.
I’d be happy to hear David’s criticism, face to face, over some pints at Casey Moore’s. No biggie to me.
I know we have a hell of a long way to go to get better at this show, and I’ll be the first to admit I’m not strong talking college sports (yet). I’m a pro sports guy all the way, but I’m an ASU fan and I want to get better at this, and Mark knows ASU better than I, so we talk ASU.
Simple as that.
I must say, though, that in some small way I’m honored to be one of the things that David has claimed to despise on this blog which, by my informal count, includes ASU as an academic institution, Michael Crow, ASU football, ASU men’s and women’s basketball, kittens, puppies, windmills, the Great Wall of China, Christmas sweaters, lobster bisque, Bartlett pears, Pat Murphy, Charli Turner Thorne, Herb Sendek and go karts.
There are some things I’m quite proud to be associated with on that list.
