First Big 12 availability report gives little surprise for the Sun Devils
As the Sun Devils get ready to open Big 12 play across the pond, we have our first official injury report of the season as mandated by the conference.
The biggest news came earlier this week with the report that right guard Wade Helton will be out "a few weeks" after sustaining a lower leg injury last Saturday at Texas A&M. Helton started both games for the Sun Devils this season, but sophomore Rob Lapuaho split snaps in those games, and looks to get the majority of the work this week. Depth pieces that are designated as out are safety Maurice Williams, cornerback Jalen Williams, guards Marques Uini and Brent Helton, and wide receiver Harry Hassmann, none of whom have seen stats yet this season.
AJ Ia and Omarion Miller are both listed as probable, with Miller looking for a bounceback game after being held to 29 yards on 9 catches last weekend in College Station. The offensive line has two more probable listings, Tana Alo-Tupuola and Luke Baklenko.
Both have started both games for the Sun Devils this season, but with Helton sidelined, the offensive line can't afford to lose any more key pieces. Backups Albert Smith III and Antoine Belgrave-Shorter are also listed as probable, rounding out the injury designations for the week.
For Kansas, they will be without running back Kory Amachree. A piece of their rotation, Amachree is out indefinitely with an undisclosed injury. Wide receiver Cam Pickett is listed as questionable with a leg injury after making his season debut last week against Missouri.
Chase Jenkins will be the primary backup at quarterback behind Isaiah Marshall with Jaylen Mason (undisclosed) out and Cole Ballard (shoulder) doubtful. Linebacker Bam Crouch missed last week's game but has been upgraded from doubtful to questionable, and tight end Carson Bruhn remains questionable after leaving last week's game early.
The Sun Devils and Jayhawks will square off from Wembley Stadium on Saturday at 9am Arizona time, airing on FS1.
