Four Big 12 teams stay in updated AP Top 25
We have a new entrant at No. 1 as we head to Week 3 of the college football season.
After a thrilling 4th quarter comeback, the Texas Longhorns dethroned preseason No. 1 Ohio State after their 24-23 win at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. One of three major upsets on Saturday, the Buckeyes dropped 5 spots in voters eyes after letting a 23-3 lead after 3 quarters slip away. Oregon plummeted from No. 6 all the way to No. 21 after their 39-33 loss to Oklahoma State, while Michigan re-entered the rankings after their home win against then-No. 11 Oklahoma, who fell to No. 24.
There was some movement for the Big 12 teams as well, with a new top dog (or cat) entering the chat for internal bragging rights. BYU moved up 4 spots after their win at home against Arizona to land at No. 11, leapfrogging Texas Tech who stayed at No. 13 after escaping Corvallis with a 35-24 win over Oregon State. Utah's 43-10 win at home against Arkansas moved the Utes up 3 spots to No. 17, while Houston's 77-6 win over Southern kept the Cougars at No. 22.
Speaking of Oklahoma State, Eric Morris and his squad are in a new light after receiving 36 points from voters in this week's poll. The only other Big 12 school to receive any votes was Arizona, receiving 5 after their loss to BYU.
Arizona State's 48-20 loss on the road to Texas A&M wiped out any favor from the voters this week, but Kenny Dillingham's team will look to get back on the right foot when they take on Kansas on Saturday morning in London.
