In this week’s Echo From The Buttes film breakdown, we broke down Junior quarterback Cutter Boley’s two interceptions against Texas A&M were game-altering plays.

The first play is right after the Texas A&M senior punter Tyler White bobbled the snap and did not get the punt off. Arizona State had the ball on the Texas A&M 34, and if ASU scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion, they would have cut the lead to three.

On the first play of the drive, senior tight end Khamari Anderson in motion, he helped out blocking the Aggies' line. Texas A&M rushed four. Boley dropped back and was hit by senior defensive end T.J. Searcy as he threw. The ball squirted up to sophomore defensive end Marco Jones, who caught the ball and ran it back for a touchdown.

On the play, Arizona State junior center Tana Alo-Tupuola does not block anyone. Texas A&M showed blitz and backed off. It’s probably not relevant to the rest of the play, but having Alo-Tupuola chipping on a guy is helpful.

Arizona State fifth-year right tackle Jalen Klemm got beat on a bull rush by Searcy, allowing Boley to get hit.

When Boley dropped back, he did not move. He stood on the hash marks when he took the snap and moved a half step to the left off the hash marks by the time he threw the ball. Boley could have stepped up in the pocket or rolled to the left to get out of harm's way.

The second interception was Boley's fault. The game is pretty much out of hand; this is the game-sealing play for Texas A&M. Arizona State was driving around midfield.

Senior wide receiver Reed Harris was out to the left and senior wide receiver Omarion Miller in the slot. The ball is going to Miller on this play.

Boley does not throw this screen pass accurately. Miller has to go over to his left by about a yard to get this ball. Boley jumped while throwing the ball, leading to the inaccuracy.

Fifth-year corner Julio Humphrey made a nice play, jumping the route, and there was no one around him, allowing him to score easily.

This play takes a little bit to develop as Boley faked a handoff to the running back.

Boley has some things to work on before the Sun Devils play Kansas in London on Saturday. The video version of this can be found on YouTube.
