Sun Devil football: Tuesday, October 27 practice report

TEMPE, Ariz. – Three different quarterbacks got action in Saturday’s game against Kansas State. Heading into Tuesday’s practice, it was unclear what the quarterback order would be after sixth-year Mikey Keene’s injury and junior Cutter Boley’s benching.
Freshman Jake Fette took the majority of first-team reps, with Keene taking some as well. In the only first-team eleven-on-eleven period, Keene was supplementing Fette in the huddle.
In the first team offense, wide receiver Derek Eusebio got some significant run time compared to past weeks.
Early in practice, the entire team did position group-on-position group drills for a five-minute period, in a different style than usual.
The first team offense had one drive against the first team defense. Freshman running back Cardae Mack took two runs up the middle for decent gains. A run play to sophomore wide receiver Corey Butler Jr. was met with multiple players in the backfield, resulting in a loss of yards and ending the drive.
The second team offense also went three-and-out, led by Keene. Sophomore running back Demarius "Man Man" Robinson had two runs for minimal gain. Butler hauled in a pass for marginal yardage.
Despite not getting any reps against the top defense, Boley did get some reps with the second team against the scout team.
As usual, both first and second teams worked against the scout team offense and defense. The practice ended with walk-throughs.
