Arizona State adds another elite 4-star forward

Sun Devil football just got their season off to a red hot start, but that doesn't mean other programs aren't hard at work, too. A week after Randy Bennett landed a top 4-star forward commit, his first of the 2027 class, he's done it again:

Howard Williams committed to the Sun Devils on Monday. The Chicago native has been starring at Dynamic Prep in Dallas, one of the top high school basketball programs in the nation led by former NBA All-Star Jermaine O'Neal.

Williams is currently rated as the 44th overall player in the nation, per 247 Sports. He's also ranked as the eighth-best power forward prospect in the nation and the fourth-best player in the state of Texas.

Listed at 6'6" and 225 pounds, Williams is a stretch four type of player. He's proven to be comfortable at shooting from outside the arc and in the midrange, but Williams has been equally adept at playing a more traditional big man role and posting up down low.

At Arizona State, given the size that Randy Bennett clearly looks for in his rosters - the Sun Devils have five players 6'8" or taller - Williams may become more of a wing at the next level, with the flexibility to play the 4 spot in certain rotations.

Whatever his role is, Williams' commitment signals a huge step forward for Bennett's budding Arizona State program. Between Williams and Carson Crawford, the Sun Devils currently rank fifth in the country for the 2027 recruiting class.
