The Randy Bennett era begins tonight.

After an offseason filled with plenty of hype, the longtime St. Mary's head coach will make his debut as the head coach of his hometown Sun Devils. Joining him is a laundry list of transfer players, many of whom he either coached for the Gaels or coached against in the West Coast Conference.

Headlining the bunch is Paulius Murauskas, named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. Murauskas, who led St. Mary's in scoring last year, was also named to the Karl Malone Award watchlist, given annually to the nation's best power forward.

Murauskas is joined by fellow Gaels transfer Dillan Shaw, alongside Gonzaga's Emmanuel Innocenti and Portland's Joel Foxwell. Together, they are hoping to rejuvenate a program that hasn't reached the NCAA Tournament in three seasons.

Standing in their way for the season tip-off is East Tennessee State. Fourth-year head coach Brooks Savage had a breakthrough last year, going 23-11 and looking like a tournament lock until falling in the Southern Conference title game to Furman, who later put a scare into UConn in the Round of 64.

The Buccaneers, picked to finish second in their conference this year, will be looking to spoil Bennett's debut in Tempe, but the Sun Devils are looking forward to starting this season off on the right foot.
